Overview



'Ekahi Care Management (ECM) aims to develop and deliver disease management, care management, and well-being programs. ECM is innovating healthcare here in Hawaii. New specialty clinic with the focus on diabetes management mixing technology with frequent interpersonal touches. Team oriented approach to move the total cost care needle in the right direction. 

ECM is seeking a Medical Assistant to coordinate program activities and patient care while supporting the clinical delivery team to ensure the success of the program. The Medical Assistant will be an essential front-line member of the Program delivery team, the medical assistant is flexible in carrying out responsibilities order by the Nurse Practitioner and assists the patient in a professional manager.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties


  • Checking in participants into the program and collect copayments
  • Initializes and manages the potential patient process, schedules appointments, and screening/triaging phone calls and taking messages for the NP.
  • Assists with billing, reimbursement, and insurance management protocols
  • Assists with the data collection process and secure storage of data, enters patient information into online medical records and billing platform
  • Administratively supports and participates as a member of the collaborative clinical delivery team
  • Contributes to a high level of participant satisfaction
  • Work up patients: taking patients' vital signs and measurements, obtaining patients' medical complaints, as well as making them feel as comfortable as possible
  • Performing patient blood draws and laboratory specimen collections
  • Practice universal precautions
  • Complies with HIPPAA privacy laws and ensures patient confidentiality
  • Attends and participates in weekly team meetings/support specialist meetings, attends monthly full team meetings
  • Housekeeping area - make sure examining rooms, waiting areas, and cubicle are clean
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications


  • Must have completed a medical assisting program (proof of completion required)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
  • Experience in clinics in the start-up phase is preferred but not required
  • Diabetic patient experience is preferred but not required
  • Personal interests in diabetes management
  • Familiarity with and comfortable using billing and scheduling systems such as ConnxtMD and EMRS such as Elation
  • Excellent computer skills and entry-level experience with information system technology
  • Exemplary interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology
  • Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of participants
  • Desire and ability to work in a patient-centered, team-oriented environment
  • A passion for health and promotion and wellness
  • Able to work independently, self motivated and flexible to changing processes for efficiency
  • CPR or BLS certification
